Movie Review: Yaya & Angelina
Are you a kid? Do you throw a tantrum if you don’t get your way? Do you go out of your way to act it out? If so, you could relate if you watch this movie. I’m not really a fan of watching Tagalog movies more so comedies which are acted out by Michael V. However, as I was with my aunt’s family last Sunday, my cousin wanted to watch this Tagalog movie about spoiled brats.
The movie? Yaya & Angelina the Spoiled Brat Movie. Yaya & Angelina was only of the segments on one of Michael V and Ogie Alcasid’s comedy show. As the public masses like it so much, they made it into a movie.
The movie is about Angelina (Ogie Alcasid), an eight year old only child of Daddy (Jomari Ylana) and Mommy (Aiko Melendez). She’s an angel to her parents but a terror to her yaya. She manipulates the people around her. No yaya can stand her and her parents had a hard time looking for one.
After several attempts of finding a yaya, here comes Yaya (Michael V) who has years of experience taking care of children of both foreign and local families. Angelina is clever and very talkative. She knows how to push the buttons of people. Her ideas brought about the destruction of their home, a supermarket and a pet shop.
Of course, a story without any villain will be boring. In this movie, the villain wanted to kill the Duchess of Wellington by planting a bomb on the flowers that she will receive from one of the students at Angelina’s school. Angelina accidentally found out and was kidnapped by the villain’s goons.
As her parents were so busy, her only hope was her yaya. Yaya was able to rescue her and to make the long story short, they were able to spoil the attempt of the villain and save the day.
Verdict: 2 out of 5. It’s really so cheesy and the story was quite shallow.
